Article Abstract:

Risk management is a part of everyday decision-making in our lives rather than just being work-related. A couple successfully spent seven days trekking the 80kilometer world heritage wilderness Overland Track between Cradle mountain and Lake St. Claire because in line with AS 4360, the world's first risk management standard, the risks, causes, consequences, likelihood, contols and treatments were identified well in advance.

Australia has bucked many adverse domestic and global crises like drought, war, earthquake, bushfires, recession, stock market crashes and terrorism and encouraged the businesses to better acknowledge potential risks. A reasonable level of preparedness comprising risk management, threat assessment, and business continuity plans to respond to an unusual event is an important step for any business.

Article Abstract:

The forward and backward looking approaches involved in risk management associated with accounting and CPA associated activities are described. It is not necessary to assess what will happen in future, but it is necessary to use the statistics of past events as a guide to make a recommendation or a decision.
