Internal audit: how does it measure up?

Article Abstract:

A survey of company CEOS and auditing managers by the Australian Society of Chartered Professional Accountants Audit Centre of Excellence indicated that a significant portion do not use performance indicators to evaluate company auditors, and internal audit managers recognized areas in which they could improve current performance measurement. Indicators included timeliness of reports, audit staff productivity, savings as a result of audits, acceptance of reports by management , and client or management feedback.

Article Abstract:

A report on the parks and recreation assets of Victoria, Australia, highlights the difficulties of evaluating the assets of the public sector. Policy disclosures and financial statement presentation and classification are different for each aspect of local government. As a result, accounting policies can be applied to parks and recreation assets in the broadest terms.
