IFAC on the 'bug': company survival should be the new focus

Article Abstract:

The International Federation of Accountants recommends focusing on contingency planning whether or not computer fixes are fully in place. For example, systems may be fixed yet not be able to communicate with each other. The Federation advises legal actions such as key partners making a declaration and developing a common definition of compliance. Contingency plans should address critical business tasks, identify areas of concern, and develop viable alternatives.

CPA 2004 - a new plan for a new era

Article Abstract:

CPA 2004 is the five year strategic plan developed by the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants. It will feature interactive electronic member communication systems, flexible learning systems and the newest business and professional ideas. The society plans to be the best in the region and develop the best staff.

Issues are presented concerning the progress which was made by the CPA of Australia in the year 2000. The objectives which the organisation has put forward for the year 2001 are discussed.
