The successful management of the World Cup by the Australian Rugby Union (ARU) that made a $40 million profit is credited to CPA Ashley Selwood, general manager, finance and administrator of the ARU. Selwood himself attributes his skills to his training as a CPA, which imparts an understanding of business culture and management issues apart from expertise in numbers.

The provisions of Australia's Spam Act 2003, which came into effect on 11 April 2004, are discussed. The importance of a global approach to the problem of Spam is emphasized with the memorandum of understanding between Australia and South Korea that agrees on the sharing of information on Spam related activities, being seen as a step in the right direction.
