Credit managers get short end of the payroll stick

Article Abstract:

The 1990 annual Administrative Management Society salary survey of more than 2,500 North American companies with over 28,000 exempt management employees was conducted to determine the average annual salaries of 16 middle management and four supervisory positions. The survey has revealed that credit managers often receive smaller salaries than most other positions. The salaries were broken into categories based on geographic region, business type, and company size. In the Western region, the average annual salary for credit managers was $38,000, compared to $49,000 for a sales manager. The highest average annual salary for credit managers by business type was $39,000 in the utilities, transportation, and communications category, compared to $31,300 in banking, insurance, and finance. Credit managers received an average of $32,300 annually in companies with 500 or fewer employees, compared to $38,600 for those with 500 or more.

A cure for a major credit industry headache

Article Abstract:

The main problem of credit grantors and credit bureaus is that requests to reverify data in consumers' credit reports takes 10 days to be sent and returned in the mail. This is because the consumer dispute verification processhas used the same manual mailing methods for 20 years. The Associated Credit Bureaus, Inc (ACB) together with software developers and nationwide network provider have developed a solution to this problem with the automated consumer dispute verification (ACDV) system. The ACDV will allow credit bureaus and credit grantors to verify consumer-disputed information between 24 to 48 hours. In line with these efforts, the ACB is organizing a beta test to be conducted from March to April 1993 between credit bureaus Equifax, TRW and Trans Union, 12 credit grantors and software developers using a nationwide network.
