Coatello cuts to hurt retirees

Article Abstract:

Treasurer Peter Costello presents a paper on policy options for aging population, restricting the attractive planning strategies available to retirees. The proposed changes will reduce the assets test exemption from 100 per cent to only 50 per cent thus reducing the retirees' cash flow. The need for the accountants serving retiree and pre-retiree markets to be pro-active to ensure the clients the best possible outcome is emphasized.
