China moves towards a 'professional' profession

Article Abstract:

China's accounting profession has undergone reconstruction since 1980. During the late 1990s, the industry began self-auditing, professional institute auditing, Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants sample auditing and professional regulation system standardization. Profession structure, practice quality and market integrity has improved in 1999.

When the doctor calls: the quality assurance program

Article Abstract:

The Australian Society of Certified Professional Accountants is undertaking a quality assurance review of its members. While initially reluctant, more than 550 of 1,618 members had completed their review. Results include maintenance of quality standards, improvement of quality control systems, and implementation of the new procedures and processes.
