Article Abstract:

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission's (ASIC) Interim Policy Statement 146 (IPS 146) concerns the training of authorised representatives, and requires that license holders be able to show that their representatives have been assessed or have completed assessment training. ASIC has stated that IPS 146 will be instituted, whether the Financial Services Reform Bill is passed or not.

Issues are presented concerning the investment restrictions which have been placed on super funds by the Superannuation Legislation Amendment Bill No4 1999. The provisions of the legislation are discussed.
