Audit committees: one size fits all?

Article Abstract:

Audit committees may not be an effective corporate governance technique for companies in Australia. In Australia, many large companies use audit committees even though they are not required to use them. However, those companies that do use audit committees do so to improve their image to the public and government regulators. Companies are not required to disclose information such as how often their committees meet or what kinds of duties their committees are responsible for.
