Health care. . . a consumer service industry: opportunity for ICCA?

Article Abstract:

The health care industry is just as much a consumer service industry as retailing, banking, finance, and education, especially now that competition for patients has become an established practice. With medical care costs steadily increasing and more and more patients paying from their own pockets on credit, management executives should consider the potential advantages of mutual cooperation with executives in the banking, finance, and retailing industries. The International Consumer Credit Association (ICCA) could provide the necessary leadership so that coordinated research and study groups could be formed, resulting in industry progress for the health care industry at a minimum cost in executive time and money.
