A number of Canadians are dominating auto racing, and they got their start in grassroots racing, which had its heyday in the 1980s. Canada had the world's largest Formula Ford 2000 series during 1984-1985. Greg Moore is the lastest Canadian upstart who dominated the Indy circuit in 1995.

Various cars such as Maserati, Pontiac GTO and Mazda RX-7 Turbo that are a part of drifting, a form of motorsport which is about exhibiting vehicle control skills is presented. The performance of each car with regards to their driving style and controlling skill is described.

The 1997 edition of the Championship Auto Racing Team season ended with record performances during the Marlboro 500 race in the California Speedway. Some participants have reached speeds of up to 220 to 240 mph.
