Gore is incorrect in stating that little is being done to stem air pollution caused by automobiles. Atmospheric ozone levels have decreased in Los Angeles, CA, since 1955, and increased levels in Mexico City are caused by raw sewage.

New technology for emissions: scorn the bums

Article Abstract:

One-tenth of all the automobiles on the road account for half of all the motor vehicle emissions in the US. If the scorn heaped on smokers were used on owners of such vehicles, they might br persuaded to repair their cars.
