Article Abstract:

Many motorcyclists enjoy the sound that their bikes make. The police rarely pulls over a motorcycle because the noise is too loud, although sometimes people can have trouble in their own neighborhood where people may complain. The owners of motorcycles rarely think that their own bike is loud, and assume that everybody else will like the sound.

The energy crisis of 1974 was the catalyst for government programs that would reduce US dependence on foreign oil, because forecasters said that oil prices were likely to reach $100 per barrel by 2000. In fact, foreign oil is now about $10 per barrel, and the new fear is that dropping prices will bankrupt countries that depend on oil revenues.
