Article Abstract:
The 1999 Volkswagen Jetta GLX ($24,025) is wider and heavier than previous models of the car, and the extra weight offsets its increased horsepower. Like previous models, the Jetta is stiff in handling and exhibits reluctance through curves and transitions. The interior, instrument lighting, and array of features are luxury-car quality. Rear legroom is too snug, and the price increase ($2,500) over last year's model makes it difficult to recommend.
