Variable valve timing systems adjust the intake-valve timing according to an automobile engine's varying requirements. This is especially useful at high speeds, when the intake charge of air and fuel can lag behind the descending piston.

The barrier crash test bites the dust

Article Abstract:

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has replaced the barrier crash test for cars with the Hyge sled test. The change will allow the agency to test airbags that are depowered to reduce airbag injuries.
