Article Abstract:

BMW's Sequential M Transmission is a promising development for sports cars but will probably not be accepted by typical consumers of automatic cars. The transmission system provides better fuel economy and less power loss, but its shifting may seem slow to users of automatic transmissions.

Cinquecentoy show

Article Abstract:

Fiat owns most of the Italian automobile industry and the Turin Auto Show has always been essentially a Fiat show. In 1992, however. Fiat had little to show so Cinquecentos were given to eight different coach builders to redesign. The results were exhibited, and are discussed.

Ruf BR2 Turbo: two-pedal Porsche

Article Abstract:

Alois Ruf adapted a Porsche Electronic Clutch System (EKS) to a turbocharged BR2. The clutch pedal was removed and a gearshift with a sensor to signal the electronic control unit was installed. A test drive revealed both advantages and disadvantages to the EKS.
