The last-minute deal on importing American automobiles that the US wrangled from Japan may not be the victory it was trumpeted to be. The US automobile industry should widen its share of the Japanese car market by being more competitive instead of having the US government threaten Japan with tariffs.

New junk: my plan to save the Indy 500

Article Abstract:

The Indianapolis 500 would appeal to more racing fans if new design rules were implemented that would allow front-engine cars. This would help the Indianapolis Racing League establish an identity that would help propel the sport to the same kind of popularity stock car racing now has.

One Lap returns, but not Grimshaw

The 1992 Car and Driver One Lap of America will start and end in Ann Arbor, MI, June 3-6, 1992, and take a short, fun route. Veteran rally navigator Tom Grimshaw has retired after open-heart surgery, and Dr. Stephen Brown will no longer run the affiliated charity.
