Opponents are lobbying to keep speed limits at 55 mph, claiming that the higher speed limits will result in more auto accidents and higher insurance rates.

Why we donEt have a policy to conserve energy

Article Abstract:

The indirect efforts taken to save energy will do nothing to reduce consumption or change the mindset of people about energy usage. Rising prices of fuel is one of the most effective and least coercive ways of reducing the consumption of fuel.

Speeding to conserve

Article Abstract:

Owners of fuel-efficient cars should be allowed to drive faster than owners of cars that rate poorly in terms of fuel economy. This would provide an incentive for the purchase of fuel-efficient cars and help to conserve oil resources.
