The cars we don't own ... and why

Article Abstract:

Car and Driver staff members are avowed automobile enthusiasts so it is interesting to see what vehicles they have in their garages. Surprisingly, few actually own contemporary high-performance supercars. Staff members have learned early on that it was impractical to maintain a car collection. Moreover, the cars they get to try on the job are far better than anything most of them can hope to buy with their own money.

The Sultan's Superstash

Article Abstract:

The Sultan of Brunei has an expansive automobile collection of about 5,000 vehicles. An estimated 3,000 vehicles are kept at the Sultan's House No. 5 and are used by family members and government officials. The types of vehicles reputedly include Rolls-Royces and Aston Martins that have been customized to the Sultan's specifications.

Terry Bennett and the Harvard auction

Article Abstract:

Terry Bennett, doctor and avid automobile collector, sold 57 cars from his collection and donated the proceeds to the Harvard medical school. A visit to Bennett's home in Hampton Falls, NH is described.
