Sprint-car racing has been rejuvenated across the US by the enormous success of the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing. The racing event is unique to Americans which originated in the early 20th century. Even the vehicle is uniquely designed to turn left while unleashing its power.

Gurney's new Toy(ota)

Article Abstract:

Dan Gurney's automobile racing team has a new Toyota racing car called the Eagle Mark IV. Actually, the turbocharged V-8 aluminum engine is Toyota's, but the car itself was built in Gurney's shop. Gurney admits the car is highly innovative and that risks are being taken.

Maserati's intricate masterpiece

Article Abstract:

The Birdcage Maserati was imported to the US in 1961 by Briggs Cunningham, and its name was inspired by the car's original chassis design of numerous small tubes. The author describes the car's design and a 1979 race in which he competed against it.
