Sports-car prognosis: dead and loving it

Article Abstract:

Consumer demand for sports cars is at its lowest point since their peak sales year of 1985. One reason given is that baby-boomers have gotten older, thereby eliminating a major source of sports-car buyers. The high price of insurance premiums for sports cars in another major reason for low sales.

Several production electric cars, including the Ford Ranger EV and the Honda EV Plus, were on display at the 1997 Greater Los Angeles Auto Show. The splashy displays at the Detroit show featured Nissan's vice-president rappelling down a rope and Chrysler's Durango popping up from the floor.
