A new industry designation promises to standardize for the first time the characteristics constituting a proper snow tire in North America. Certain government agencies particularly in Canada have reportedly suggested that tire makers standardize their snow tires or face the consequences.

Selecting the proper tires for sport-utility-vehicles depends on several factors that include the type of terrain where the vehicles would be used. Different brands of tires for use in different types of terrain and conditions are compared and evaluated.

Article Abstract:

Several ultra-low tire profiles were evaluated. The tires were compared against each other based on performance, comfort, noise and handling. Several potential configurations were considered for the tires under a blind-repeat testing environment.
