The One Lap of America is an annual auto race where the entrants compete in two consecutive timed laps at 11 racetracks consisting of 4,200 miles of open US highways. A closeup look at six of the more impressively built race cars, including the 1st-place-winning Mosler Intruder, is presented.

The Boxster, Z3, and Corvette are evaluated for performance, power, and the added intangibles. The Boxster was ranked in first place, followed closely by the BMW in second, and finally by the Corvette. Tabular data on the comparison metrics is presented.

The IMSA Camel GTP in 1992 featured many of the fastest sports prototype cars in the world. These cars cost more than Indy cars and weigh more, but the tires are bigger. Dan Gurney's All American Racers team shone with Eagle-Toyotas.
