One Lap of America

Article Abstract:

The One Lap of America is 2800 miles long and begins and ends in Ann Arbor, MI. The 1992 event included 57 teams. Winners were John Buffum, Tom Grimshaw and Satch Carlson driving a BMW M5. Some of the most memorable incidents of the 1992 race are briefly described.

The IMSA Camel GTP in 1992 featured many of the fastest sports prototype cars in the world. These cars cost more than Indy cars and weigh more, but the tires are bigger. Dan Gurney's All American Racers team shone with Eagle-Toyotas.

Article Abstract:

The 1993 West Pro Rally included rally racing legends Rod Millen and John Buffum, who managed to win the race. Millen had done well until the engine of his Hyundai Elantra caught fire.
