Jeff Gordon became the youngest driver ever to win the Daytona 500. Only 25 years old, he beat such rivals as Mike Skinner and Dale Earnhardt during the 1997 edition of the event. He dedicated his win to team owner Rick Hendrick, who was battling a rare form of leukemia.

NASCAR Daytona 500

Article Abstract:

The 1997 NASCAR Daytona 500 automobile racing competition that was won by Dale Earnhardt is described. The victory was Earnhardt's first after 19 tries at the event. Earnhardt has also previously lost 59 straight races that was held at the Daytona Beach, FL, race track.
