The Scarab - was this the first minivan?

The 1936 Stout Scarab is a rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive, six-passenger, two-door van that is believed to have been the first true minivan, a distinction previously assigned to the 1984 Caravan or Voyager. The van was designed by William Stout at his Stout Engineering Laboratories.

A 1996 Chrysler Town & Country minivan ($30,705) needed three unscheduled maintenance stops and seven warranty repairs during a 40,000-mi long-term test. Performance and handling were very good, and cargo hauling ability was excellent.
