The Mazda Miata M Coupe is a concept car designed as an enclosed version of the popular roadster. Its steering is sensitive and responsive and trunk space is improved, but its ride quality is too stiff for comfort. If Mazda decides to market it, it will probably cost less that the MX-5.

Mazda has introduced the heavily revised new Mazda MX-5 Miata at the 1997 Tokyo Motor Show. Although the original roadster is still very popular, Mazda had to come up with a new version. The new car is slightly bigger with a 1.8-li twincam inline-4 engine and priced at $19,770.

Road and Track magazine's testing of the 1990 Mazda MX-5 Miata has come to an end after 50,240 miles. There were minor problems, including a controllable over-steer, but overall it proved to be practical and well-engineered, with its size making it an ideal errand car.
