It appears that the passion the auto business engendered is dying with the giants of the industry retiring to make way for a new generation of brand managers. Some retired auto executives have shown by example that people in the auto business must love cars, love people and love life.

Automobile manufacturers are conducting studies on high-speed impacts in an effort to devise ways of protecting race drivers and motorists. Ford Motor Co and General Motors Corp, for instance, are using sophisticated accelerometers to collect g-force data from impacts.

Porsche in the Motor City?

Article Abstract:

Porsche Engineering Services' Detroit office has been responsible for the survival of the carmaker. Engineering work with other car manufacturers and suppliers has prevented the company from total collapse and enabled it to remain independent.
