Lotus Esprit V-8: introduction and technical analysis

The Lotus Esprit, with the brand-new 350-bhp compact aluminum-block V-8, has entered the true supercar class, and is a worthy challenger to the Porsche 911 Turbo of Ferrari F355. The powerplant produces 295 lb-ft of torque, and the superb drive is only slightly spoiled by a difficult Renault gearbox.

Ruf 911 BTR 2

Article Abstract:

A modified Porsche 911, developed by Alois Ruf, is tested and evaluated. The Ruf 911 BTR 2 increases compression ratio by replacing the Porsche fuel injection and electronic ignition with a Bosch Motronic system. Also, a 6-speed gearbox replaces the 5-speed Porsche system.

Ford Mondeo

Article Abstract:

Ford of Europe is introducing the Mondeo, which is scheduled to arrive in the US in 1994. The Mondeo, with anti-lock braking system, traction control and front-wheel drive, lacks a distinctive personality but performs well. Driving test results are discussed.
