The stripped-down $67,205 Porsche Carrera 911 absolutely thrilled its testers through 40,000 miles of driving. Service and repairs for normal wear, not including snow tires, totalled $2281. The 911 accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds, and ran a quarter-mile in 13.3 seconds.

The Porsche 911 Carrera 4, at $78,000 to $82,500, is four-wheel driven and well worth the money. The car includes a system that helps prevent the car from going off the road by transferring power to the appropriate wheel when cornering, called Porsche Stability Management.

Volvo sold 1,000 of its 850T-5R automobiles in the US in 1995 and plans to up that number to 1,500 for 1996. The 1996 versions of the sedan and wagon will simply be called the 850R. This excellent turbocharged vehicle has a few weak points, which are described.
