Long-term testsing of a 1997 Jaguar XK8, with a base price of $67,838, is described. The XK8, which traveled 40,000 miles in 14 months, continued to be a pleasure to drive. Normal service costs totaled $671 and fuel consumption was about 20 mpg. Opinions of the drivers are somewhat divided, as some have reservations about the car's expense, but all agree it was well-designed and fun to drive.

Daewoo Goes to College. (Daewoo Motor America uses college students in a marketing campaign)

Article Abstract:

Daewoo Motor America is using college students to market their economy automobiles. The South Korean auto maker has only fifteen dealerships in the US and many are owned by the company. Car shoppers deal with service consultants who are not paid on commission and there is no haggling over cars. Three 1999 models ranging in price from $8,999 to $19,360 are evaluated.

Porsche Boxster

Article Abstract:

The Porsche Boxster was road tested for 16 months and had some problems for the drivers who fell in love with the look and sounds of the sports car. Among the problems were the airbag warning light coming on, a burned out taillight, and noise from the emissions control air pump.
