The 1996 Infiniti Q45 ($50,000) is much more conservative than previous models, taking on the more standard characteristics of a luxury car. The 1996 model is a totally rebuilt version that shares few characteristics with earlier models. It is luxurious, plush and has comfortable, but not fast, handling.

The 1996 Toyota RAV4, Jeep Wrangler Sport, Geo Tracker LSi and Suzuki X-90 small sport-utility vehicles were evaluated for their off-road performance. The $17,000 Toyota RAV4 received the best ratings because of its comfort, performance and design, which does not look like a sport-utility vehicle.
