The IMA is a parallel hybrid which combines a 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder, VTEC Gasoline Direct Injection Engine and an electric motor and generator connected to an ultra-capacitor. It also features a continuously variable drive. Each power source contributed to propulsion on demand.
