The General Motors EV1 will be the first electric car made available to consumers by a major automaker. The EV1 is powered by a battery pack consisting of 26 12-volt batteries that can help it reach a top speed of 80 mph. Base price for the EV1 is estimated at $35,000 for a 36-month lease.
