Cars and vans powered by methanol are being promoted in California. General Motors Corp. Chevrolet Div is building a small fleet variable-fuel Lumina vans. The benefits are dubious, as variable-fuel cars produce about as much pollutants as gasoline-powered automobiles.

Reinventing the unit body

Article Abstract:

Audi and Alcoa have jointly developed an innovative method for constructing an all-aluminum car body. The method, already used in making the A8, is still in its infancy stage, which is why the process is still slow and can only produce 80 cars per day.

Plymouth Prowler

Article Abstract:

The Prowler has the look of a street hot rod and an aluminum body, and it would have to undergo a number of changes if it is placed into production. Chrysler is currently considering the value of the Prowler and a possible production car.
