The performance and features of six family cars are compared: the Chevrolet Lumina LS, Dodge Intrepid ES, Ford Taurus LX, Honda Accord LX V-6, Nissan Maxima GXE, and Toyota Camry LE V-6. The Toyota is rated as the best car on the basis of criteria such as smoothness and braking distance.

The 1997 Audi A8 is a front-engine, front- or four-wheel-drive, five-passenger, four-door sedan that has an estimated base price of $57,000. The A8 is extremely lightweight because of an all-aluminum frame, which makes it far more economical than the BMW 740i and the S-class Mercedes.
