FIA GT: Mercedes' win, Porsche's chagrin

Daimler-Benz' Mercedes has remained the leader of the 10-race FIA GT Championship which is the international battleground for purpose-built racing cars. Although Porsche won the non-FIA-GT Le Mans race in Jun 1998, it was the only time it would beat Mercedes in 1998.

Left-handed complement: a Porsche (but not necessarily the right Porsche) wins Le Mans

Article Abstract:

A Porsche-powered IMSA World Sports Car, not the ballyhooed Porsche 911 GT1, won the 24 Hours of Le Mans race despite being the slowest qualifier. The IMSA/TWR roadster team was led by Reinhold Joest, and drivers Manuel Reuter, Davy Jones, and Alexander Wurz.

FIA World Rally Championship: as the world (rally championship) turns

Article Abstract:

Colin McRae won the 1997 FIA World Rally championship which was held at Network Q RAC Rally. McRae utilized the Subaru Impreza sports car. It was the third RAC Rally that McRae has won.
