Diesel power is another choice for the fuel-economy enthusiast where paying a seven-percent premium of $1240 for a diesel-powered VW TDI engines, one can expect 52-percent-better fuel economy relative to the base 2.0-liter gas engine. Diesels' success will depend on whether the hardware required to meet long-term compliance can be had for less than the cost of the electric motor, battery packs, and high voltage controller hardware that go into a hybrid with similar performance.

Stability-enhancement systems: trick or treat?

Article Abstract:

Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Cadillac have developed a method for keeping cars from spinning, even in cases when the gas pedals or brakes are not being operated by the driver. The technology, similar to that used in anti-lock braking systems, is excellent.

Nose-breathing birds through the decades

Article Abstract:

Ram Air induction systems first appeared in 1965 on a GTO Pro Stock dragster. Pontiac Div. picked up on the idea and these systems began appearing on factory-built Firebirds in 1967.
