California, and other states that are adopting similar laws, will require Zero Emissions Vehicles by the year 1998. Automakers in Japan, Europe and the US are developing electric vehicles in order to comply with these regulations. An overview of the batteries, motors and finished products is presented.

Volvo ECC: a brief drive into the turbine/electric future

Article Abstract:

The Volvo ECC is a one-of-a-kind experimental hybrid car, introduced at the 1992 auto show in Paris, France. The car uses a turbine engine connected to a high-speed alternator. Energy for electrical operation is stored in 770 pounds of nickel/cadmium batteries.
