Five automobile manufacturers competed for supremacy during the International Motor Sports Association's 1991 Grand Touring Prototype series. Nissan Motor Company Ltd came out ahead for the third straight year, and Nissan driver Geoff Brabham won his fourth consecutive title.

The One Lap of America is 2800 miles long and begins and ends in Ann Arbor, MI. The 1992 event included 57 teams. Winners were John Buffum, Tom Grimshaw and Satch Carlson driving a BMW M5. Some of the most memorable incidents of the 1992 race are briefly described.
