Law enforcement is relying increasingly on the use of laser-based speed measurement, otherwise known as lidar, to detect speeders and issue citations. A variety of new counter-measures are available for drivers that allow them to evade police lidar, a number of them are presented.

Cordless detectors

Article Abstract:

The Escort Solo and Bel 945i cordless radar detectors are compared. The Solo has fewer false alarms, but the Bel is better at detecting Ka-band radar and photo radar. One disadvantage of cordless detectors is that they scan in intervals rather than continuously.

Talladega: the big uneasy

A Car and Driver staff member was recently given an opportunity to drive a new IROC Dodge Avenger on Alabama's Talladega Superspeedway. His narrative of the experience is presented.
