Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX is the most potent Japanese performance car in the market place and this new model has more open grille, front bumpers that integrate small vents for better cooling and more power. The turbocharged 2.0-liter inline Evo IX comes with MIVEC (Mitsubishi's variable valve-timing technology), the engine pumps out 286 bhp at 6500rpm and 289 lb-ft of torque at 3500rpm and it is priced at $29,000.

Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4

The long-term testing of a 1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 ended in an accident after eight months and 21,873 miles. The Mitsubishi proved impressive, both in appearance and performance. Most of the complaints were about the car's center console controls.
