1997 BMW M3 sedan: a sports sedan that defines the genre

The new four-door BMW M3 sedan makes its debut in the US a year after it was launched in Europe in 1996. The vehicle is one of the best performing cars to come out of the market and is considered to be one of the fastest accelerating four-doors. It also has the sporting ability of the M3 Coupe.

The features of the BMW 328i, Mercedes-Benz C280 Sport and Volvo 850 R automatic sports sedans are compared. Volvo, with its 240-bhp engine and Pirelli P-Zero 45-series tires, receives the rating of best car overall, even though it is not as aesthetically pleasing as the other two.

Why does BMW's M3 steer so well?

The excellent steering quality of the BMW M3 can be attributed to the automobile's good rear suspension and pneumatic trail. Benign understeering sensation results when the suspension's bushings compress under lateral load.
