Article Abstract:

Technology improvements in automobile gaskets will have far reaching consequences on repairperson-customer relations. New high-technology gaskets have caused automobile repair to become an increasingly labor-intensive process. As a result, repair costs have risen. Repair people must be prepared to charge more for the job in order to avoid losing money, but also quick to explain that these technology improvements will mean a longer life on the car's engine.

Higher performance Mustang-Capri planned by Ford; diesels sell well

Last year a total of 509,133 diesel cars were sold, an increase of 31% over last year. General Motors Corp. was the major supplier of diesel, selling 301,488 cars last year. The Oldsmobile Division was the biggest seller, selling over 20% more than last year.
