Article Abstract:

Manned space flight to Mars is achievable using present-day technology. A plan for the exploration and colonization of Mars in the near future is discussed along with the social and cultural need for mankind to become a spacefaring civilization.

On anniversaries

Article Abstract:

The first of the robotic Viking spacecraft landed on Mars on Jul. 26, 1976. Since then much progress has been made in the exploration of the planet. Several conferences will be held in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of this event.

The case for colonizing Mars

Article Abstract:

Mars has the greatest potential to support life among the planets in the solar system because of its proximity to Earth. Unlike other planets, Mars has a thick atmosphere which can protect humans, plants and animals from solar flare.
