Article Abstract:
Mercury is one of the least explored planets in our solar system, in spite of its close proximity to Earth. The history of man's investigation of Mercury is presented, as are the findings of these efforts. The possibility of using observations of Mercury as clues to the evolution of the Earth are discussed.

Eurokosmos is a joint venture of Kayser-Threde of Munich, Germany and the Central Specialized Construction Bureau in Samara, Russia. It aims to use low-cost Russian reentry capsules to take experiments into space and return them to Earth.
