The search for breakthrough propulsion concepts for interstellar flight have spurred some scientists to think of utilizing the energy in the quantum vacuum, or emptiness of space. Theories to exploit zero-point fluctuations and the nature of gravity are described.

The Antarctic Space Analog Program is a joint effort by NASA and the National Science Foundation. It aims to use Antarctica as a test site for equipment destined for use on the moon and Mars. The various test projects are presented.

NASA successfully conducted the seventh and eighth test flight of the Delta Clipper rocket on Jun. 12, 1995 and Jul. 7, 1995, respectively. During the tests, the Delta Clipper achieved a maximum altitude of 8,200 feet.
