Results of crystal growth experiments in microgavity environments confirm the inherent difficulty of the said undertaking. However, scientists are optimistic that future experiments of this nature may yield favorable results.

Instrumentation Technology Associates has reported some success in growing urokinase crystals in zero gravity. The space-grown crystals have exceeded results achieved from ground-based experiments on producing crystals of urokinase which is used for treating cancerous tumors.
