Shenzhou makes history: China's manned space program emerges

Article Abstract:

China successfully launched "Shenzhou" in Nov 1999 to become the third country that is capable of launching men into space. China obtained much of its technology from Russia to develop the craft. An analysis of the program and its implications is presented.

Shenzhou-2: a status report

The Shenzhou-2 if China's second automated test flight of their new piloted spacecraft. The six-day mission used bonafide prototype with all the systems needed for carrying space passengers.
