Article Abstract:
The loss of the Mars Climate Orbiter to human error and the loss of the Mars Polar Lander in late 1999 caused NASA to reevaluate its Mars program and the ambitious nature with which the program was implemented. An analysis of the future of the program is presented.

Mars has long been regarded as the only planet in the solar system which could possibly support life. Recent expeditions to the planet have shown that life could have existed in the planet millions of years ago. However, there is not enough evidence to make a rational assessment of these findings.
